Updates to respiratory virus recommendations including flu & COVID-19 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released an update simplifying respiratory virus recommendations, including COVID-19.  The Aggie Health and Wellness Center and the NM Dept. of Health will align with the CDC’s recommendations.  If you test positive for COVID-19, you can go back to normal activities when, for at least 24 hours, your symptoms are getting better, and you haven’t had a fever. For more information click on the CDC link Respiratory Virus Guidance ( Aggie Health & Wellness Center offers same day appointments for acute care needs and can test for common respiratory illnesses such as flu, strep and COVID-19.

**We may ask and offer patients a mask for in-person visits as a courtesy to others who visit the center.          

The Aggie Health and Wellness Center on the Las Cruces campus offers at-home COVID-19 test kits for purchase (2 tests for $20 in each kit) through its pharmacy, and kits are also available for purchase at most local pharmacies. Students can seek medical care for suspected COVID-19, flu and other illnesses at the Aggie Health and Wellness Center.

The CDC has released its flu vaccine recommendations for the coming flu season. The updated influenza vaccine will be available soon through Aggie Health and Wellness Center. It is recommended that most people start receiving their annual vaccination starting in September or October. Make an appointment by calling 575-646-1512. The cost for the vaccine is $20 per shot.

The Aggie Health and Wellness Center (AHWC) provides integrated comprehensive medical and psychological services to the students of New Mexico State University.
The AHWC is a nationally accredited out-patient ambulatory facility offering services in:

  • Health education, outreach, and programming
  • Immunizations (travel and preventative)
  • Medical clearance for NMSU research, education, and employment purposes
  • Medical illness and prevention
  • Mental health and counseling
  • Treatment and case management of workers compensation injuries
  • Reproductive Health/Sexual Health
  • Women’s health


The main entrance is located on the northeast corner of the building, at the corner of McFie and Breland Drive, across the street from Zuhl Library. Physical address is 3080 Breland Dr.
